AERIAL ROOTS

Nantong University, 22 may 2019, Workshop+Performance

Aerial Roots is a site-specific project about my difficulties to fly away, leaving the ground of the Old Europe, leaving my nation and my culture. We are not angels. The clouds cut our roots. So, we need to have new aerial roots, to breathe-in water from the clouds, as some orchids that constantly live hanging far from the ground. I asked to Nantong University’s students to help me, drawing on a Chinese paper some flowers and roots, cut them and gift them to me, to build up together a dress, attacking the flowers and roots to a great dimension drawing of mine.  The dress was showed at the final Nantong University fashion show.
